NBC MARCHING UNIT

Dear Marching Unit Parents and Students,

Please be advised school board policy states no student is to be left alone at the school following a school-sponsored activity. An activity director or adviser must wait until all students have safely left school grounds until he or she can leave.

Before a Marching Unit event, your son or daughter has been given an information sheet, including pickup and dropoff times. This is written and handed out to each student, and also read aloud and discussed by the director. They know they are to have their ride at the school at the given time, and no one is to "call when we get back." If no one is there to pick a student up, the director (not another parent) must wait at the school with that child until his/her ride arrives. This is not an uncommon occurrence. In the past, I have waited at the school for nearly three hours. I have missed appointments, social invitations, been late for meetings, etc. This past season was no exception.

We ask that you please help avoid this situation by doing the following:

* Ask your son/daughter what the pickup time is from the event before you drop them off. If need be, ask to see the information sheet they were provided (usually every Thursday).

* Please be there at the specified time or make other arrangements to have your child brought home2. Do not tell your child to "call when you get back."

* If you are picking your son/daughter up at a place other than back at the school (e.g. at the conclusion of the game or competition), please provide Mr. Pinto with a note, from you, in advance. Mr. Pinto also needs to see you leave with your child (for your child's protection).

We understand that emergencies do occasionally happen and that you may not be able to be there. In such a case, please call Mr. Pinto at 609-456-9641 (cell phone) so that we can make arrangements to get your child home2 safely. With everyone's understanding, we can avoid any transportation problems this season. Thank you very much in advance for your kindness and consideration.

Sincerely,

Chris Pinto
NBC Marching Unit Director
